Yogyakarta, 18 December 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has held an Open Exam for the Promotion of Doctoral in Economics for Promovendus Nur Widiastuti. Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, M.A., Ph.D., as Chair of the MD FEB UGM Economics Study Program as chairman of the trial this morning. Attending the open exam this time, Prof. Tri Widodo, M.Ec.Dec., Ph.D. and Ardyanto Fitrady, M.A., Ph.D. as co-promoter. Besides, the assessment team, including Prof. Samsubar Saleh, M.Soc.Sc Ph.D., Akhmad Akbar Susamto, M.Phil., Ph.D., Sekar Utami Setiastuti, M.Sc., Ph.D.; as well as a team of examiners, namely Artidiatun Adji, M.Ec., Ph.D., Dr. Akhmad Makhfatih, M.A., Dr. Sri Suharsih, M.Si. Also present were the families of doctoral candidates, work relatives of STIE Widya Wiwaha, and all guests.
The open doctoral promotion exam is opened by the chairman of the session to then be given the opportunity to the promoter, co-promoter, assessment team, and examiner team to provide questions related to the dissertation that has been carried out. Promovendus managed to answer the questions well and was able to defend the arguments for his dissertation entitled “Fiscal Sustainability Studies in Indonesia”. Hence, he successfully graduated with the predicate “very satisfactory”.
Also, Dr. Nur Widiastuti consists of three essays. Essay one measures the threshold for fiscal sustainability. Furthermore, the second essay estimates fiscal sustainability using the government debt stationarity test and estimates the fiscal reaction function. The third essay estimates the effect of government spending used to increase productivity (productive spending) consisting of capital expenditures, health spending and education spending on economic growth in a state of a budget deficit.
Dr. Nur Widiasturi officially holds the 5006th doctorate who passed the exam at UGM and the 295th who graduated at FEB UGM. Mr. Ardyanto Fitradi, M.Si., Ph.D., as the co-promoter representing the promoter, congratulated him and conveyed a message to be responsible for the new title he had received after taking education at the FEB UGM doctoral program.
