The Master of Science and Doctoral (MD) Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada received a visit from Universitas Palangka Raya (UPR) and Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN). The visit was carried out online in the context of a comparative study by FEB UPR and FEB UNTAN with the Doctor of Science in Management Program FEB UGM. In this event, FEB UPR and FEB UNTAN were represented by managers, staff, and lecturers, then the MD FEB UGM Program presented managers and staff of the MD program. The purpose of this visit is to conduct a comparative study on the Doctor of Science in Management Program related to the plan of the Universitas Palangka Raya to open a Doctor of Management Program. Universitas Tanjungpura also attended to provide advice regarding his experience of having just run the Doctor of Management program while increasing his knowledge through a comparative study to MD FEB UGM.
The event was opened with remarks from Dr. Andrie Elia, S.E., M.Sc., Rector of Universitas Palangka Raya. The next session was a speech from Prof. Dr. Mamduh M. Hanafi, M.B.A., Head of the Doctoral Program in Management Science, who welcomed and introduced the managers and staff of the MD FEB UGM Program with job descriptions from each staff. Prof. Mamduh continued with a presentation about the Doctor of Science in Management Program regarding the vision and mission, the concept of lectures, and educators as materials for comparative study discussions.
After the presentation from Prof. Mamduh, representatives from Tanjung Pura University, namely Prof. Dr. Danes Jayanegara, S.E., M.Sc., Dean of FEB UPR introduced himself and all his staff. He then explained that the purpose of this visit was to conduct a comparative study at FEB UGM, especially for the Management Doctoral Program, where UPR seeks to open the program. The event then continued with a discussion about the UPR plan. UNTAN participated in the discussion to share his experiences regarding the Doctor of Management Program.
The discussion forum was very interactive and discussed various things related to the preparations that must be made to open the Doctor of Management Program. Based on the discussion’s results, UPR is advised to create quality and uniqueness to support sustainable management. Regarding the curriculum, one of them can include green marketing that is following conditions in Kalimantan. Programs of academic activities need to be improved, such as giving public lectures, seminars, and workshops, meanwhile publication activities for students in doctoral programs need to be supported to improve the quality of graduates and their contribution to the academic field.
