Doctoral Program in Management FEB UGM received a visit from FEB Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) to share several things, such as the administration system, accreditation study programs towards world-class universities, lecture systems, and factors supporting the quality of learning. The visit, which was held on March 2nd, 2023, took place in the Meeting Room 3rd Floor of the Master of Science and Doctoral Building FEB UGM. There are two representatives from the University of North Sumatra. In the meeting, several representatives from MD FEB UGM were present, namely Prof. Mamduh M. Hanafi, M.B.A., Ph.D. (Head of the Doctoral Study Program in Management), and some staff of MD FEB UGM.
The meeting began with introductions from both parties (MD FEB UGM and FEB USU). Next, representatives from USU’s FEB started a discussion regarding the administration system of each study program. The main points discussed were about staff who handle administration as a measure of efficiency by considering the economies of scale and the quality of management results.
The second thing is about a world-class university, where FEB USU is making preparations to become a world-class university. Responding to this, MD FEB UGM emphasized the importance of obtaining international accreditation, which realized with the support of the faculty and study programs. The best possible preparation is required by fulfilling every aspect of the selected accreditation. In choosing the type of accreditation, adjust it to the study program to be submitted. Obtaining this international accreditation will support the progress of the quality of the study program, which is marked by an increase in standards. For this reason, it necessary to monitor the quality of learning outcomes through an evaluation system to maintain international accreditation.
Third, there is a discussion regarding student publications as a requirement for graduation from the doctoral program and cum laude rules. To encourage the success of each student, monitoring, and assistance is needed by providing publication workshops, tips for selecting appropriate journals, and motivating. FEB USU also discussed determining promoters and co-promoters also educational costs in the doctoral program.
The discussion continued on the internationalization program, which includes foreign teaching staff/lecturers, guest lecturers, and international cooperation programs. Regarding some of these things, very important to provide learning facilities from foreign university lecturers. International cooperation in student exchanges and scholarships is also very good for improving the quality of learning.
The last thing discussed was the requirements for enrolling new students in the doctoral program. These requirements are important because as a basis for obtaining quality students and ensuring the ability or commitment to complete studies.
