Yogyakarta – August 12th-13th, 2021
The Master of Science and Doctoral Program of FEB UGM held the Academic Briefing and Researchers’ Enrichment Program (REACH Program) for new students in the 2021/2022 Odd Semester. This activity lasts for two days, Thursday-Friday, August 12-13, 2021. This activity for new students is carried out online through a Zoom meeting. A total of 107 new students from the Master of Science and Doctoral Program attended the full activity.
The First Day
On the first day, the event began with remarks and reports from representatives of the MD FEB UGM directors, Ms. Zuni Barokah, M.Comm., Ph.D., and remarks from the Dean of FEB UGM, Mr. Eko Suwardi, M.Sc., Ph.D. The next agenda is the UGM Philosophy Seminar which is accompanied by Prof. Dr. dr. Sutaryo, Sp.A.(K) and became a very extraordinary event because it told the origins of the founding of UGM, UGM’s work, UGM values, and the philosophical value of the UGM symbol and flag.
In the session, I, Prof. Jogiyanto Hartono M., M.B.A., Ph.D. conveyed the vision and mission, the values of FEB, and the curriculum of the MD FEB UGM Program. In session II, the new students also received information about the academic and non-academic regulations of the MD FEB UGM Program from Prof. Mamduh Mahmadah Hanafi, M.B.A., Ph.D. and Mrs. Heni Wahyuni, M.Ec.Dev., Ph.D.
In session III, there was a presentation of Campus Life by Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, M.A., Ph.D and Time Management by Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc. The atmosphere of the UGM campus is beautiful and aesthetic, making the spirit of learning more comfortable. Various complete and adequate facilities are also available. Variety campus life can be balanced with time management for the success of students. The importance of time management to balance time between studying, refreshing, and various other activities, must be realized by students.
The series of events on the first day ended with a Communication Skill session by Mrs. Rr. Tur Nastiti, M.Sc., Ph.D. There were three important points, such as effective communication, the need for communication for academics, and how to become an effective communicator.
The Second Day
The second day of the event began with the first session by Prof. Jogiyanto Hartono M., M.B.A., Ph.D., who gave an explanation of the learning system at MD FEB UGM, namely Student-Centered Learning (SCL). SCL is based on Research-Based Learning (RBL), where the learning is based on research and the goal is to form students who are critical, active, and produce research with interesting topics.
In the next session, Prof. Catur Sugiyanto M.A., Ph.D. told the various units of academic support tools in the MD building and the FEB UGM building. An explanation of writing academic documents and anti-plagiarism was also given and delivered by Mrs. Zuni Barokah, M.Comm., Ph.D. He emphasized the importance of writing and how to write good research that is relevant to current issues.
The series of events ended with an interesting session, the introduction of student organizations at MD FEB UGM, namely Forkomsi and IMADEBGAMA. Both of them act as bridges between students and administrators as well as the government in various activities that can support common goals.
