Yogyakarta – Wednesday, September 9, 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MD FEB UGM) held a virtual new Student Briefing and Welcoming. A total of 118 students participated in this activity consisting of regular program students and the matriculation program. The excitement of the event began with a greeting by the presenter, Rr. Tur Nastiti, M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager for Academic, Student Affairs, and Collaboration Program MD FEB UGM. Further, all attendees in the online forum sang the song Indonesia Raya and the Gadjah Mada Hymne solemnly. Also attending the event, the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi, M.Sc., Ph.D., gave a speech and officially opened the activity which would last two (2) days.
Generally, there were four (4) sessions beginning with “Session I: Vision and Mission, FEB Values, Curriculum” by Prof. Jogiyanto Hartono M, M.B.A., CMA., Ph.D., Head of the Accounting Study Program. In his presentation, he explained the values of FEB UGM, Mission and Vision of the Master of Science and Doctoral programs, as well as the Learning Goals of the Master of Science and Doctoral Programs. Furthermore, FEB UGM statistics were also displayed which were supported by 103 teaching staff with doctoral degrees titles, with details of 27 lecturers are professors and 92% of which are Doctoral graduates abroad.
In “Session II: Academic and Non-Academic Regulations for the MD FEB UGM Program”, Coordinator of the Doctoral Program and Chair of the Management Study Program, Nurul Indarti, Sivilekonom, Cand.Merc., Ph.D., explained how strict the selection process at MD was. The percentage of students of the Master of Science Program who received regular and matriculation was 30% and the Doctoral program was 17% in the academic year of 2020/2021. In addition, she also explained the Regular Academic Calendar, the concentration of the Master of Science Program, the Dissertation/Doctoral Program Concentration Research Field, and the length of study regulations.
Head of the Economics Study Program, Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, MA, Ph.D., in “Session III: Campus Life, Time Management” explained 8 Facts about the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, Book chapter MD which is published yearly, student exchange programs, facilities availability, up to Researcher’s Enrichment (REACH) Program. REACH is an ongoing activity for students who was given each semester including scholarships day out or introduction to the campus environment, then providing material such as Philosophy of Approach, and Application of Learning Research Methods, Academic Support Tools, Communication Skills, and Anti-plagiarism.
Furthermore, the introduction was not only about academics and facilities, but also introduced educational staff who will facilitate teaching and learning activities during the process at MD. The event was closed with a session “Procedures for Online Study Plan Card Filling (KRS)” by the Academic section of MD. (RP)
