Yogyakarta – Thursday, February 6, 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MD FEB UGM) held a New Student Admission Semester for the 2019/2020 school year. A total of 95 Master of Science students and 7 Doctoral students participated in the activities which will be part of a series of REACH programs that were carried out for two days to improve student soft skills. The first day of the REACH program took place on the 3rd floor of the BRI Auditorium, MD FEB UGM Program Building. This program was guided by the Manager of Academic, Student Affairs, and Collaboration Program MD FEB UGM, RR. Tur Nastiti, Ph.D., and Rosinta Purba, M.Sc., Admission Assistant.
The event began with singing two songs entitled Indonesia Raya and UGM Hymn, followed by remarks by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D. In the first session, Prof. Jogiyanto Hartono, Ph.D., Program Coordinator and Chair of the Accounting Study Program said “Mission and Vision, FEB Values, MD FEB UGM Curriculum Program”. Nurul Indarti, Sivilokonom, Cand. Merc., Ph.D., Chair of the Management Study Program who presented “Academic and Non-Academic Regulations for the FEB UGM Program.” On this occasion, academic issues such as duration of student studies, curriculum, international conference assistance, publication obligations for doctoral programs, residence time up to academic leave and graduation.
Furthermore, in the third session, Prof. Catur Sugianto, M.A., Ph.D. as Chair of the Economics Study Program explained the dynamics of campus life in the “Campus Life, Time Management” session. According to him, students need to understand the importance of a life balance between academic activities and need to explore themselves in the community and the environment “a value system like non-excludable good means that it needs to be built an attitude of collaboration and cooperation with mutual assistance such as sharing or learning material together as an effort to build networking” he added. In the closing session, Prof. Catur introduces the ranks of the teaching staff and a group photo.
As a National University, the University of Struggle, University of Pancasila, University of Democracy, and the University of Culture Center, the fourth session of the “UGM Philosophy Seminar” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Dr. Sutaryo, S.P (Ak.), Professor of Hematology and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine UGM. In this session, Prof. Dr. dr. Sutaryo, S.P (Ak.) conveys two values of UGM philosophy: First, Pancasila and Indonesian Culture, and; second, Science, Reality, and Truth. “Demanding knowledge in Gadjah Mada is an obligation” he added, this message must be understood and infused by every new student as part of Gadjah Mada University.
This welcoming event for new students of the MD FEB UGM Program on the first day ended with the introduction of student organizations (FORKOMSI) delivered by M. Thoriq as the chairman of FORKOMSI and IMADEBGAMA, represented by Muizzudin. -RP
