The Doctoral Program at FEB UGM focuses not only on dissertation writing but also on a structured program process. All doctoral students must successfully complete each stage. Evaluations will be conducted at each stage, and decisions to continue or discontinue the program will be made as early as possible, discussed, and decided in the Management Meeting with the FEB UGM Dean.
The program is structured with course-works (course-works, preliminary exams, proposal defense, dissertation research, and dissertation defense). The total load for the two-year course-work period is 42 credits, with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale and a maximum grade of “C” for two courses. After completing the course-work, students are required to take and pass the comprehensive exam (maximum two attempts) before starting the dissertation proposal writing. The overall minimum residential requirement is three years, and the maximum study period is five years from enrollment.
Doctoral in Accounting Program
The Doctoral Program in Accounting emphasizes a critical understanding of theories, concepts, and research methods in accounting, as well as the enhancement of research activities and quality in the field of accounting based on honesty, freedom, and academic ethics.
Doctoral in Management Program
The Doctoral Program in Management at FEB UGM aims to produce graduates with in-depth knowledge and mastery of Management Science in their specialization. Graduates should have the ability and expertise in their field to serve as lecturers at universities or hold other relevant positions in society, in line with their knowledge and educational level. They should also be capable of expanding their knowledge through in-depth and extensive independent research.
Doctoral in Economics Program
The Doctoral Program in Economics emphasizes a critical understanding of theories, concepts, and research methods in the field of economics, along with the improvement of research activities and quality in the field of economics based on honesty, freedom, and academic ethics. The program incorporates recent developments in economic research, such as the use of microdata to eliminate aggregation bias, microeconometrics, randomized experiments, and the application of laboratory experiments to analyze individual behavior. The program also leads in disseminating research using microeconometrics and microeconomic development.
