Yogyakarta, December 29, 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program of FEB UGM has held an Open Exam for Doctoral Promotion for Promovendus Yohana Ari Ratnaningtyas. Head of the Department of Management FEB UGM, Dr. C. Budi Santoso, M.Bus., Acted as chairman of the session introducing the promoter team, the assessment team, and the examiners team as well as paving the way for the exam. Attending the open exam this time, Mr. B.M Purwanto, M.B.A., Ph.D. as the promoter and Bayu Sutikno, M.S.M., Ph.D., Mrs. Yulia Arisnani Widyaningsih, M.B.A., Ph.D., as the co-promoter. Also, present in this exam was the assessment team, including Dr. Sari Winahjoe S., M.B.A., Mr. Bayu Aji Aritejo, M.Si., M.M., Ph.D., and Dr. Lilik Wahyudi, M.Si.; as well as a team of examiners, namely Prof. Nurul Indarti, Siviløkonom, Cand.Merc., Ph.D., and Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc. Also present were the families of doctoral candidates, work relatives, and guests.
The open doctoral promotion exam is opened by the session’s chairperson to be then allowed to the promoter, co-promoter, assessment team, and examination team to provide questions related to the research carried out. Promovendus managed to defend his opinion and answer questions related to his dissertation entitled “The Process of Pricing Mural Art Works as Decorative Ornaments at Artotel Hotels”. Hence, she successfully graduated with a “satisfactory” predicate.
For information, Dr. Yohana Ari Ratnaningtyas raised how ARTOTEL artists and art management proceeded to communicate and negotiate, which eventually resulted in an agreement on the price-fixing of the murals made decorate the spaces in the ARTOTEL area. This study explores the intense interaction between art directors, artists and hotel owners in the process of setting prices. They already know each other making it easier to communicate and negotiate to reach a price agreement. The author hopes that this research can contribute to illustrating that there is a phenomenon of a specific price-fixing process for works of art, especially murals. The mural pricing process is unique because it takes part and is a mixture of various theories that have not been answered by existing theories.
Dr. Yohana Ari Ratnaningtyas officially holds the 5014th doctorate degree who passed the exam at UGM and the 299th who graduated at FEB UGM. Mr. B.M Purwanto, M.B.A., Ph.D. as the promoter congratulated Dr. Yohana Ari Ratnaningtyas and said that the doctoral education process had been passed be in line with the responsibilities and contributions given to the original institution.
