On Monday, December 1, 2025, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM held an Executive Lecture Series featuring an insightful discussion on “Sport Economics.” The session invited Prof. Robert Simmons from Lancaster University as the keynote speaker and took place onsite from 10:00 to 12:00 WIB at the BRI Auditorium, 3rd Floor, MD FEB UGM Building.
In his presentation, Prof. Robert Simmons explained how sport economics has evolved into a strategic field that integrates market analysis, consumer behavior, sports industry management, and public policy. Participants showed great enthusiasm, especially during the discussion on data and economic models commonly used to analyze club performance, audience behavior, and the economic impact of major sporting events. The interactive Q&A session allowed students and faculty members to explore global sports industry trends and potential research opportunities in sport economics.
Through this Executive Lecture Series, MD FEB UGM hopes that students can broaden their understanding of how economic principles are applied within the rapidly growing sports industry. The event concluded with a group photo session, marking the end of an inspiring and insightful discussion that enriched the academic perspectives of all participants.
