Tuesday and Wednesday, February 20-21, 2024, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program of FEB UGM again held activities for a general lecture with the material “Artificial Intelligence in Management” by inviting Dr. Harald Puhr, M.Sc., M.I.M. Assistant Professor from the Institute for International Business, WU Vienna as the main speaker. The event was opened by Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc. from the Head of the Master of Science in Management Study Program at FEB UGM.The activity was carried out offline for two days with the first session at 10:00-12:00 and the second session at 14:00-16:00 at the BRI Auditorium 3rd Floor, Master of Science and Doctoral Building FEB UGM.
On the first day, Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc introduced Dr. Harald Puhr, M.Sc., M.I.M. and delivered opening greetings. The lecture began with a short quiz prepared by Dr. Harald Puhr, M.Sc., M.I.M. related to the audience’s understanding of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and told a little about his background. Then entering the material he explained in general what artificial intelligence is and the implications of artificial intelligence that can be utilized in management. In terminology, AI is a field of computer science that involves making machines capable of performing tasks that require intelligence. Machine Learning, a field of artificial intelligence that deals with the development of algorithms that can learn from data. He explained that chatgpt, gemini, bingchat are tools that can be utilized in the field of management. On the second day, he discussed the bias that occurs in the world of artificial intelligence, he revealed that the data generated by a generative AI depends on the available data base, so it is possible that there is a bias generated by the AI. in his last session, he also invited his wife to share his experience in applying the data that had been processed and explained the steps to analyze the data and its application. The main thing to underline in this public lecture is that Generative AI does not know – it PREDICT!
Activities that aim to sharpen students’ understanding of the benefits gained in using artificial intelligence in management. Many new things were obtained from this discussion. After the material session, participants actively participated in the question and answer session and during the activity, the participants were very enthusiastic in participating and running smoothly. After four lecture sessions divided into two days passed, the event ended with a group photo session.
