Guest Lecture: Marine Resource Modeling and Application

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a guest lecture on the exciting topic “Marine Resource Modeling and Application,” inviting Prof. Budy P. Resosudarmo from the Australian National University as the keynote speaker. This guest lecture was moderated by Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, Dr., MA., Head of the Doctoral Program in Economics and a

Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UFB). This event was held offline from 10:00–12:30 WIB in the BRI Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Master of Science and Doctoral Building, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

In this guest lecture, Prof. Budy P. Resosudarmo comprehensively discussed marine resource modeling and its application in sustainable economic management. He highlighted the importance of a scientific and data-driven approach to optimizing marine resource utilization without compromising ecosystem balance. Furthermore, Prof. Budy also presented the latest research findings related to the socio-economic dynamics of coastal communities, climate change, and natural resource management policies in the Asia-Pacific region.

Participants actively engaged in the interactive discussion session. Many raised questions about the challenges of implementing a maritime economic model in Indonesia and opportunities for future research collaboration. Through this activity, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of integrating economics, environmental science, and public policy in supporting sustainable maritime development. The event concluded with a group photo session, marking the end of this inspiring and insightful guest lecture.
