On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM held a Guest Lecture on the exciting topic “Recent Publications in Tourism, Technology, and Services,” inviting Prof. Carlos Flavian from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, as the keynote speaker. This guest lecture was moderated by Rokhima Rostiani, S.E., M.Mgt., a Lecturer in the Department of Management, FEB UGM. This activity was held offline from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB in the BRI Auditorium, 3rd Floor of the Master of Science and Doctoral Building, FEB UGM.
In his presentation, Prof. Carlos Flavian shared valuable insights on how researchers can compose and write good, clear scientific articles that have a high chance of being published in reputable journals. He emphasized the importance of clarity in the writing structure, starting from the formulation of relevant and current research problems, the use of appropriate methodology, to the presentation of results and discussions that are logical and based on strong evidence. Prof. Carlos also provided several important tips for the publication process, such as identifying key gaps or current issues, determining appropriate methodology, writing clearly and with significant impact, and avoiding common mistakes that often lead to manuscript rejection.
He also encouraged young researchers to be more critical in developing research ideas that offer novelty and theoretical and practical contributions, particularly in the fields of tourism, technology, and services. The discussion was lively, with many participants enthusiastically asking questions about publication strategies and the challenges of interdisciplinary research. The event concluded with a group photo session of the speakers, moderator, and participants, concluding this inspiring guest lecture.
