On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held another field study and visit to Kebun Bagus Salatiga, a hydroponic vegetable and fruit garden in Semarang Regency, Central Java. Participants included Master of Science students, doctoral students, and educational staff from the MD Program. The field study aimed to provide hands-on experience in modern agribusiness management practices while strengthening the synergy between academic theory and real-world application.

The event began with a presentation by Ms. Eki and Mr. Bagus, the owners of Kebun Bagus

Salatiga, who shared inspiring stories about their journeys in building and developing this plantation business. In their presentations, they highlighted various challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, business competition, supply chain management, and the implementation of innovative agricultural technology. Through this session, participants engaged in a direct question and answer session with the owners and gained a deeper understanding of adaptive and sustainable strategies for navigating the dynamics of the agribusiness sector.

Following the presentation, participants were taken on a tour of the Kebun Bagus Salatiga area to see firsthand the hydroponically grown fruits and vegetables, from lettuce to melons. During the tour, participants received engaging explanations about the origins of plants, the characteristics of various types of fruits and vegetables, and their planting and harvesting times. This activity not only broadened their academic horizons but also provided valuable field experience in the real-world practice of the agribusiness industry.

Toward the end of the activity, participants had the opportunity to visit the Kebun Bagus Salatiga produce shop. Enthusiasm was evident as they selected a variety of fresh produce, including organic vegetables, tropical fruits, and processed products typical of Salatiga. The event concluded with a group photo session between participants and the study program administrators, as a memento of this inspiring and enjoyable experience.
