Yogyakarta, September 9th, 2022

The Master of Science and Doctoral Program FEB UGM has held Mind Power and Control activities for Master of Science students Class of 2020/2021 on Friday, September 9th, 2022. This mandatory activity for students has been held offline in the BRI Auditorium Room, 3rd Floor, MD FEB Program UGM. This activity presented Mr. Deny Farabi as a speaker. A sum of 92 Master of Science and Doctoral Program students fully participated in the activity.

In his initial presentation, Mr. Deny explained the human mind. The brain is hardware, in which there is a mind as software that contains data and information. A person’s state of consciousness is stratified, which can be in alpha and beta waves. Positive affirmations can build positive thoughts, so they can focus and become a supportive reality. The affirmation comes from data/information that enters through the five senses and automatically stored in mind. This affirmation process can be done with two techniques, breathing and brain waves.

In the next discussion, there were MPC learning techniques. The first thing is to adapt to the learning style. It should understood that no learning technique is superior to another, but all are equally unique and equally valuable. By knowing own learning style, someone can create a favorable atmosphere for learning. Thus, it is necessary to understand the tendency of learning styles, whether including visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. The way to find out is to pay attention to the characteristics that exist within yourself.

Visual learning style emphasizes using pictures, colors, maps, and graphics in notes. The auditory learning style emphasizes listening and speaking, using tunes or songs to aid learning, and expressing what is understood to others. Finally, the kinesthetic learning style emphasizes involving as many body parts as possible, lots of practice questions, and writing down the essential points after studying.

The second thing in the MPC technique is to organize thoughts, namely synchronizing thoughts and entering into alpha waves, sticking hands to books, and saying affirmations or suggestions. The third thing is the capture/screenshot technique, which is to prepare yourself in a relaxed state (alpha waves), say affirmative sentences, then capture.

Mr. Deny also conveyed several things to overcome laziness, manage emotions, and manage thoughts. Overcoming laziness can be done by remembering pain and gain, changing motion, changing breath combinations with sound, changing self-talk, creating 5-minute moments, and making anchors. The emotion management technique given is a way to get rid of hurt, anger, annoyance, and sadness. Next is the technique of managing the mind, such as eliminating tension and panic. Meditation techniques and improved brain power (increased concentration) also provided.

Through this event, it hoped that every student have control over their thoughts and emotions. Thus, learning activities can run smoothly and optimally. Various things that interfere with concentration and mental health can also be minimize through the therapeutic techniques provided. The session, which lasted for 2.5 hours ended with a group photo.
