Cryptocurrency semakin populer dikenal sebagai alat pembayaran alternatif selain mata uang resmi. Problematika dan masa depan crypto kemudian muncul seiring dengan kemajuan praktik penggunaannya. Berkaca dari hal tersebut, Program Magister Sains dan Doktor FEB UGM mengadakan diskusi menarik pada tanggal 12 November dalam sesi webinar dengan topik “Cryptocurrency Dalam Perspektif Syariah: Problematika dan Masa Depan” yang menghadirkan Prof. Dian Masyita, Ph.D. dan Bapak Eddy Junarsin, MBA., Ph.D., CFP sebagai pembicara. Acara tersebut dipandu oleh Bapak Usman Arief, S.E., MSM. Webinar yang terbuka untuk umum ini dihadiri sebanyak 216 peserta yang berasal dari kalangan dosen, mahasiswa, alumni, hingga praktisi.

In November, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM held a webinar activity again with the interesting topics that were still related to the previous webinar session. The webinar was successfully held online through a Zoom meeting on November 5^th, 2021. The first topic discussed was “Big Data’s Role in Broadening Financial Inclusion in Developing Countries” and continued with the discussion of the second topic, “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Promoting Financial Inclusion in Developing Countries.”

The Guest Lecture is a routine agenda for the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM. On Friday, October 29, 2021, the Guest Lecture session II was successfully held through a Zoom meeting. On this occasion, the topic raised was also related to the previous session, namely “Distributive and Welfare Values ​​of Blockchain-Based Smart Contracts.” The second session was guided by Prof. Dr. Mamduh M. Hanafi, M.B.A., by presenting the same speaker as the first session, namely Prof. Nir Kshetri from The University of North Carolina, USA. Prof. Nir is an academic and researcher who is active in the field of entrepreneurship, then combines blockchain systems.

In this period, FEB UGM has graduated totally 30 students, such as 27 students from Master of Science Program and 3 students from Doctoral Program. Wisdom and happiness were poured out at the Tasyakuran Graduation, which was held online through Zoom meeting. This event began with the submission of a report on graduate statistical data by Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc., Head of the Master of Science in Management Program of FEB UGM, as the management representative.

The Guest Lecture is a routine agenda for the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM. On Friday, October 22, 2021, the Guest Lecture session I was successfully held through a Zoom meeting. On this occasion, the topic raised was also very interesting about blockchain, namely “Blockchain’s Role in Facilitating Entrepreneurial Activities in Developing Countries.” This interesting session was guided by Prof. Dr. Mamduh M. Hanafi, M.B.A., by presenting a very extraordinary speaker, namely Prof. Nir Kshetri from The University of North Carolina, USA. Prof. Nir is an academic and researcher who is active in the field of entrepreneurship, then combines blockchain systems.

The webinar with the theme “Mapping Research Topics Using the Scopus Database” is one of the agendas in a series of celebrations for the 41 years of the Master of Science and Doctoral (MD) FEB UGM. The event, which was held through the Zoom Meeting on October 2nd, 2021, was very well received by the participants, such as MD FEB UGM directors, FEB UGM lecturers, students, alumni, guests, and general participants.

The Master of Science and Doctoral Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MD FEB UGM) held a celebration event for the 41 years MD FEB UGM. The purpose of holding this event is to express the gratitude for the success of MD Program in 41 years and to strengthen the relationship of the big family of MD FEB UGM. The solemnity of the event did not diminish, even though it was held online through a Zoom meeting.

The MD FEB UGM program has held a Writing Skills webinar which is part of the REACH (Researcher’s Enrichment) Program. The event, which aims to improve the writing skills of Master of Science students, is held online through a Zoom meeting. Prof. Suwardjono, M.Sc., Ph.D. attended as a presenter in this routine event.

The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has held an open examination for the promotion of Doctor of Management Science for the Ph.D. candidate, Muizzuddin. Mr. Eko Suwardi, M.Sc., Ph.D. as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM acts as Chair of the Session and manages the examination. On that occasion, the chairman of the session introduced Prof. Eduardus Tandelilin, M.B.A., Ph.D. as a promoter, and Prof. Mamduh Mahmadah Hanafi, M.B.A., Ph.D., and Mr. Bowo Setiyono, M.Com., Ph.D. as co-promoter. In addition, Mr. I Wayan Nuka Lantara, M.Sc., Ph.D., Mr. Eddy Junarsin, M.B.A., Ph.D., and Mrs. Dr. Fitri Santi, M.S.M. as the assessment team.

The MD FEB UGM program consistently held Guest Lecture activities to facilitate quality learning. The Guest Lecture session in this time was held online through a Zoom meeting and raised the theme “Surviving and Thriving in The Academic Research Jungle,” moderated by Prof. Jogiyanto Hartono M., M.B.A., Ph.D. This guest lecture presented Prof. Adi Masli from the University of Kansas, USA, as a speaker. He is an academic as well as a writer in the best journals in the accounting field.
