Yogyakarta, February 05th 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program in Management, Faculty of economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an LG-LO revisited workshop. Taking place at the Grand Inna Hotel Malioboro, Head of the Management Department of FEB UGM, Budi Santoso, Ph.D. explains the purpose of the. In his remarks, he revealed that this activity was a continuation of the previous LG-LO workshop held on January 28, 2020. If in the previous workshop had only been held in a small forum (AoL Team and several resource persons), this time the workshop was held in a larger forum, by involving the lecturers. Hopefully, these experts can provide new insights to complement the existing deficiencies in the LG-LO design that has been created by the Team.
After the warm welcome was delivered, the activity continued with the presentation of the LG-LO design. The LG-LO doctoral program was delivered by Nurul Indarti, Ph.D., as Chair of the Management Studies Program and the LG-LO master program was delivered by RR. Tur Nastiti, Ph.D., as Manager of Academic, Student Affairs, and Collaboration for the MD FEB UGM Program. In her presentation, the doctor who graduated from the University of Groningen conveyed several important issues for the LG-LO review. First, the measurements made so far are direct measurements. Second, the elaboration of the existing master and doctoral LO’s has been considered very rigid. Finally, the proposed LG-LO revision is caused by the question “is still relevant to the existing LG-LO to be applied in today’s conditions?”.
In addition to discussing LG-LO, this forum also scheduled a discussion of the thesis writing format. Nurul and the Team proposed to make a slight adjustment to the thesis writing format with the need for publishable papers. The thesis format that follows the journal format is expected to accelerate the process of writing a thesis that can ultimately improve the publication and reputation of the institution.
The forum which was held for approximately 4.5 hours took place proactively. Various views are given by experts and become very important input for improving the quality of students going forward. What is produced from this forum will be taken to a broader forum, down to the senate level. (MST-RP).
