On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held a seminar on the compelling topic of “Thinking Like a Researcher: Bridging Organizational Problems and Rigorous Management Research.” The seminar featured Prof. Prem Chhetri from RMIT University, Australia, as the keynote speaker. The event took place offline from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB in the Lippo Room, 2nd Floor of the Master of Science and Doctoral Building, FEB UGM.

In this seminar, Prof. Prem Chhetri emphasized the importance of a research mindset in addressing organizational problems with a systematic, theory-based research approach. He emphasized that quality management research must not only be based on real-world phenomena but also be conceptually formulated and tested using appropriate methods. Through various case examples, participants were encouraged to understand how to identify research gaps and formulate relevant and impactful research questions. The seminar session was interactive, with Prof. Prem actively provided opportunities for students to express their opinions, answer questions, and engage in discussions that encouraged critical thinking and logical argumentation.

Furthermore, participants were divided into small groups to work on short assignments designed to hone their analytical skills and collaboratively develop research ideas. This activity encouraged students to develop more structured, problem-solving thinking in responding to managerial issues. Through this seminar, it was hoped that MD FEB UGM students would strengthen their scientific thinking skills and improve their readiness to produce rigorous and relevant management research.
