Based on the graduate data from Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM Period I 2022/2023 in October, Puspita Ghaniy Anggraini determined as the best graduate. This alumnae of the Doctoral Program in Accounting was born in Kulon Progo, March 5th, 1998. It is an extraordinary achievement that she became the best graduate of the MD FEB UGM Program, also the fastest and youngest graduate at UGM with a GPA of 3.90. Puspita is an awardee of the PMDSU Scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Culture, a scholarship to take the Master Program to continue Doctoral within four years. Based on these rules, Puspita managed to complete a master’s degree for one year, then continued to doctoral studies and completed within three years.
All of these achievements certainly require an extraordinary struggle. It takes commitment, focus, and time management to complete studies on time, including smoothly on the process of compiling a dissertation. Puspita wrote a dissertation entitled “Investigating the Effect of Tax Planning and Managerial Skills on Sustainability Performance” with a team of promoters consisting of Prof. Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D., Singgih Wijayana, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Fu’ad Rakhman, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., CA. In addition to writing a dissertation, Puspita has conducted other research and published it in national and international journals. Her publication experience such as published two articles in reputable international journals (Q1 and Q3), one article in reputable national journal (Sinta 2), and one article in reputable international conference (BAFA Conference 2022). Puspita has also written an ISBN textbook on the Use of STATA Software.
All these achievements can be obtained because the learning environment at MD FEB UGM is very supportive, especially regarding the provision of being academics (lecturers and researchers). According to him, studying at the MD FEB UGM Program is a complete package because he gains knowledge, connections with lecturers and relationships in various institutions, and inspiring friends. The services provided for students also very helpful, where the MD FEB UGM educational staff are very fun and friendly.
In an effort to complete her studies on time and successfully, Puspita has gone through all the challenges that certainly provide valuable lessons. Therefore, Puspita share the tips for passing cum laude, which can applied by all friends. First, understand the appropriate type of learning, which is really determines the learning success, where it makes us find the most effective way to understand the material and get good results as a consequence. For that, understanding yourself to find the most comfortable type of learning is crusial. Second, understand other people, in this case is lecturer. Each lecturer applies a different learning method, thus demanding more understanding in order to be able to pass each course successfully. For example, if the dominant discussion used in a lesson, we must prepare to be heavily involved in the lesson’s discussion. Adaptive ability needed in order to be able to adapt to each method used.
Regarding her experience in obtaining PMDSU scholarships, Puspita has several tips for getting PMDSU scholarships that are also relevant to other scholarships. First, have a strong determination, inseparable from the goals to be achieved after graduation. These goals serve as reminders and encouragement during studies so that everything can realized. Second, believe in yourself. In order to get a scholarship, a person must believe in its self, starting from the study plan that made, the research to be carried out, and other contributions that will be realized, so as to be able to convince interviewers, promoters, and study programs (universities) who will give the mandate.
