The event which was supported by the Chair of the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM was considered successful with great enthusiasm from the participants.
This webinar aims to: (i) improve understanding of research publication strategies; and (ii) increasing enthusiasm and motivation for study completion at the Doctoral Program FEB UGM. Based on these objectives, this virtual seminar consists of two sessions by presenting two speakers who are alumni and student of the Doctoral Program FEB UGM. The first session discussed material entitled “Sharing experiences: Research and Publications during Doctoral Studies at FEB UGM” which was delivered by Dr. Mohtar Rasyid, M.Sc., alumni of the Doctor of Economics, FEB UGM Program. The second session was continued with “Experience of Publications in a Journal with International Reputation” by Sriwidharmanely, SE, MBM., a student of the Doctoral Program in Accounting, FEB UGM.
The two speakers discussed various experiences from the research process to publication. Dr. Mohtar Rasyid, M.Sc., a lecturer at Trunojoyo University, share how the research process was carried out including participating in good international conferences to obtain various inputs. Inputs obtained in panel discussions at conferences can usually be used to improve research results so that it can be submitted to national or international reputable journals. This is in accordance with his experience in participating in the Asia-Pacific Conference on Business and Social Science 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and publication in the Journal of Developing Areas. In addition, he highlighted the importance of making a study timeline including research plans and publications.
Another important thing that needs to be underlined is collaboration with promoters. Sriwidharmanely, SE, MBM., Who was successfully published in the journal Behavior & Information Technology ranking Q1, explained how collaboration with promoters can play an important role in the submission process and accepted on reputable journals. Promoters often act as partners and supervisors in explaining various technical aspects of publications such as the submission process and discussing various inputs from reviewers. (RP)
