Friday, March 8, 2024, the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has held a routine program, namely Thesis Coaching which facilitates Master of Science and Doctoral students. With the implementation of this program, it is expected to strengthen research skills as the purpose of Thesis Coaching itself. However, this training can also be attended by Doctoral students to add insight in the field of research. This activity, which must be attended by matriculation students, 1st semester students, and WUP course students, is held offline at 13.30-16.00 at the BRI Auditorium 3rd Floor, Master of Science and Doctoral Building, FEB UGM.
On this occasion, the training was guided by Mr. Usman Arief, S.E., M.S.M, Lecturer at the Department of Management FEB UGM. He explained about bibliometric analysis using R software. One of the features used for practice is biblioshiny, biblioshiny is an R package that allows the creation of interactive web interfaces to explore data using Shiny and Biblioteca. To use it, it is necessary to install the “biblioshiny” package in R Studio. After that, start by preparing the bibliometric data to be used, which may contain information about scientific publications, citations, or other pertinent information. Then, create a Shiny application using the “biblioshinyApp()” function. In the app, you can add interactive controls such as a dropdown menu to select the desired type of visualization or buttons to filter the data. In addition, it is also possible to add visual outputs such as bar graphs or pie charts to visually represent bibliometric information. By using biblioshiny bibliometric, the process of exploring and analyzing bibliometric data is easier and more interactive, which makes it possible to gain deeper insights into the performance of research or scientific publications.
This training program went smoothly and was attended by participants consisting of Masters students, Doctoral students, and several lecturers of FEB UGM. This is proof that the Thesis Coaching program is welcomed by all groups. Thus, it is hoped that MD FEB UGM will be able to continue to facilitate students through this program which will be held regularly.
