Yogyakarta, 17-18 November 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has held a public lecture which was held online via the Zoom Meeting platform with material related to Writing Skills. In this public lecture, Prof. Suwardjono, M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., CA acted as the speaker. The event which lasted for four sessions in two days was attended by doctoral students from 3 existing study programs from MD FEB UGM.
“Two days of interesting discussion” might be an appropriate statement for this activity. Prof. Suwardjono previously distributed material and asked participants to read the material provided. As a result, during the event, two-way discussions between the speaker and participants were carried out well.
In the first and second session, it is filled with material about the importance of mastery of language for effective writing in accordance with its level (academic). This material includes the role and dignity of Indonesian in the development of science, writing principles and techniques, and typographic aspects in the presentation of written works. At the end of the first session, participants were given a task to be discussed in the second session.
The third and fourth session, which took place on the second day, began with a question and answered session by the participants to Prof. Suwardjono related to his previous writing experience and material. The following material is filled with practice and discussion about the assignments that have been given during the last session regarding sentence errors and punctuation marks.
