Metaverse and Developing Economics

Yogyakarta, December 15th, 2022 The Master of Science in Economics FEB UGM received a visit from FEB Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB) in the framework of a comparative study related to the curriculum of the Master of Applied Economics (MET) Program at UNIB. The visit took place on December 15th, 2022, in the Management Meeting Room, West FEB UGM Building. The representative from Bengkulu University is Dr. Dra. Purmini. During the meeting, Mrs. Heni Wahyuni, M.Ec.Dev., Ph.D., Head of the Master of Science in Economics Study Program, and Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, M.A., Ph.D., Head of the Doctoral Program in Economics, were present as a representative from FEB UGM. Representatives of academic staff and academic assistants were also present at the meeting. In connection with this goal, UNIB represented by Dr. Dra. Purmini, hoped for views and input regarding steps that must be taken to improve the Master of Applied Economics (MET) curriculum. This curriculum redesign is needed to improve the quality of teaching so the student learning outcomes can be right on target. The basical thing that needs to discussed was about the courses and study period in the MET Program. At the meeting, several things were discussed to help provide views regarding the curriculum improvement of the MET Program. In conclusion, the designed curriculum must follow the vision and mission of establishing the study program. Based on its name, the Master’s Program in Applied Economics focuses on a practical field, development economics. Unlike the case with the curriculum from Master of Science in Economics at MD FEB UGM, which applies research-based learning. Therefore, the courses formulated must follow the name and purpose of establishing the study program. Regarding the study period, each study program needs to implement an appropriate and firm timeline for lectures, including periodic enforcement of warning letters (SP). That has been implemented in the Master of Science in Economics Study Program FEB UGM. Therefore, the MET program also needs to apply the same thing, so the learning outcomes are achieved optimally and on time. The comparative study activity was very interactive and discussed various matters related to the matters that must considered for improving the study program curriculum. The question and answer session and discussion also went well. Based on the results, FEB UNIB will consider various suggestions, which adjusted to the vision and mission of the program as the purpose of establishing a study program. The visit to the Master of Science Program in Economics FEB UGM ended with the giving of mementos from both parties and a group photo session. (Y)
