The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM) received a benchmarking visit from the Siliwangi University Postgraduate Program on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Batasan Room on the 3rd Floor of the MD FEB UGM Building. This event served as a forum for sharing best practices in postgraduate education management, particularly related to the implementation of the Master of Science and Doctoral Programs within FEB UGM. The event began with remarks from MD FEB UGM representatives, followed by an introduction session for the leadership, lecturers, and educational staff from both institutions.
During the presentation session, the MD FEB UGM team introduced the program profile, from the characteristics of the Master of Science Program, which is oriented towards research development, to the implementation of the Doctoral Program, which is continuously refined through curriculum strengthening, scheduled mentoring, and the integration of dissertation preparation from the beginning of the study period. Furthermore, the International Doctoral Program, which uses English as the language of instruction, is supported by various collaborations with partner universities abroad, as well as various internationalization programs such as student exchanges, joint degrees, joint supervision, research collaborations, and international seminars. The MD FEB UGM also presented its achievements in AACSB international accreditation and LAMEMBA national accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining the quality of higher education.
The discussion was interactive, with questions from the Siliwangi University Postgraduate group regarding the management of the Doctoral Program. Topics covered included the mechanism for appointing promoters and co-promoters, the dissertation supervision system, scientific publication requirements, curriculum structure, dissertation examination stages, the composition of the examining team, and the implementation of the Literature Review and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) courses. Participants also discussed the matriculation program, student exchange implementation, student profiles, the international doctoral program lecture system, scientific publication challenges, and regular class management for doctoral students. The various explanations provided a comprehensive overview of MD FEB UGM’s strategy to improve the quality of doctoral education in an adaptive manner to global academic developments.
Through this benchmarking activity, both institutions had the opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices in postgraduate education management. The discussions are expected to strengthen curriculum development, mentoring systems, program internationalization, and improve the quality of scientific publications at each institution. The meeting concluded with the hope of establishing closer cooperation between the MD FEB UGM and the Postgraduate Program at Siliwangi University in supporting the development of quality higher education and research in Indonesia.
