Universitas Papua Lecturer Achieves “Very Satisfying” Predicate on Doctorate Program Open Examination

Yogyakarta – Tuesday, October 27, 2020. The Master of Science and Doctoral Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (MD FEB UGM), held an open doctoral promotion exam for promovendus Albertus Girik Allo, S.P., M.Si. The session chaired by the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi, M.Sc, Ph.D. Also attending were the Promotor and Co-promotor: Prof. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Elan Satriawan, M.Ec., Ph.D., also present the assessment team and examination team, namely Amirullah Setya Hardi, Cand. Oecon., Ph.D., Eny Sulistyaningrum, MA, Ph.D., Dr. Evi Noor Afifah, M.S.E., Prof. Catur Sugiyanto, M.A., Ph.D., Dr. Evita Hanie Pangaribowo, M.Int.Dev.Ec., and Dr. Endah Saptutyningsih, M.Si. Also present were the promovendus family, work relatives from the University of Papua, and all guests.

The open doctoral exam is opened by the chairman of the assembly, followed by a team of promoters, an assessment team, and a team of examiners giving questions for one hour. With a dissertation entitled “Welfare of Rural Households in Indonesia: Dynamics, Price Effects, and Coping Strategies.” Promovendus answered questions convincingly so that he successfully graduated with the predicate “very satisfying.”

Dr. Albertus Girik Allo, M.Si., the study is divided into three essays. The first essay is about the dynamics of rural poverty in Indonesia. The second essay on the impact of price changes on the welfare of rural households in Indonesia. The third essay will discuss how rural households’ strategies to deal with health shocks (morbidity and mortality from the head of the household). This study uses data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) 200, IFLS 2007, IFLS 2014, National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) data in 2014 (March), and National Labor Force Survey data (Sakernas) in 2014.

Dr. Albertus Girik Allo, M.Si., officially holds the 4902 doctoral degrees who passed the exam at UGM and the 293 who passed at FEB UGM. Prof. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D., as a Promotor congratulated and advised him to improve his academic career achievement. Hopefully, the new titles obtained can be applied and beneficial to society. Congratulations and enthusiasm to serve.
