Yogyakarta – July 26, 2020. Andy Lukito, S.E., M.Bus. is one of the most accomplished student of the Doctoral in Management Program of FEB UGM. In fact, in the fourth year as a student, the teaching staff at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Univerisat Katolik Indonesia Atmajaya Jakarta has produced three (3) scopus indexed international journals namely the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economics (JEEE)-Q1, Journal of Islamic Marketing (JIMA)-Q3, and one article on going in the Journal of Enterprising Communities (JEC)-Q2. Furthermore, various international conferences scopus indexed such as the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM) in 2018 and 2019, Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) in 2020, and the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) year 2020, as well as the 2019 International Conference on Indigenous and Cultural Psychology (ICICP). In addition to the scientific articles and international conferences, Andy Lukito was also chosen to be a contributor to the book chapter MD FEB UGM Program in 2019 and 2020.

For him, these achievements were the result of good synergy with the Promoter considering the successful publication articles in JEEE and JIMA were under the promoter’s research team namely Nurul Indarti, Sivilokonom, Cand.Merc, Ph.D., MD FEB UGM Program Management Coordinator. This research collaboration between lecturers and students is considered a new breakthrough that supports a synergistic and progressive research climate. The synergy is reflected in the team interaction that is not hindered by the pandemic in responding to the comments of reviewers through meetings in virtual forums. For Andy Lukito, S.E., M.Bus., “What is important in the process of publication with the promoter is maintaining the intensity of communication and quality of work. It just so happens that our logic (me and Mrs. Nurul) is often in line so our discussions become very productive. It feels like the key to successful cooperation. It is important for students to understand and balance the promoter’s thinking style so that synergy can occur.”

Further examining the article published in JEEE, this study has implications for providing future direction regarding ethnic entrepreneurship, such as gender studies on ethnic entrepreneurs and the factors that influence the opening of new businesses in new locations. Using systematic data from 183 articles from 122 journals, this study identified the dominance of qualitative approaches in ethnic entrepreneurship research and found that the typical research subjects were Asian immigrants, especially China, in developed countries.

Congratulations to the scientific article publication, hopefully, it can bring renewal to the research and publication for wider academics. (RP)
