The Master and Doctoral Programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a celebration for its 46th Anniversary on Friday, 2 October 2026. The event served as a moment to strengthen the sense of community among members of the academic community while also providing a forum for sharing experiences related to academic development, research, and publication. The program began with a sharing session featuring three doctoral students who shared their experiences in scholarly publication and participation in academic conferences.
During the publication session, Iis Istianah shared her experience in publishing the article “Unlocking Performance: A Systematic Literature Review of Evaluation Frameworks in Local Government” in the Journal of Accounting & Organizational Change. The session highlighted the research journey based on a systematic literature review, including the identification of the research problem and gap, literature screening, analysis using the TCCM framework, and the process leading to the article’s acceptance for publication. The presentation also emphasised the importance of methodological transparency and strong argumentation in producing high quality scholarly work. Meanwhile, Zahrotush Sholikhah shared practical tips and experiences related to publication, ranging from identifying research ideas and assessing their relevance, urgency, and novelty, to selecting an appropriate journal and navigating the submission and revision process. She emphasised that successful publication requires careful idea selection, alignment with the target journal, and persistence in responding to reviewer feedback.
The sharing session also featured Lutfah Ariana with the topic “From Conference to Research Impact.” Her presentation discussed the importance of doctoral students participating in academic conferences not only as a platform for presenting research, but also as an opportunity to receive feedback, expand academic networks, identify potential collaborations, and develop research toward journal publication. Participants also gained insights into selecting relevant and reputable conferences and making effective use of feedback from participants and reviewers to strengthen a conference paper and develop it further into a working paper and journal article.
Following the sharing session, the event featured remarks by the Dean of FEB UGM, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., as well as remarks on behalf of the management of the Master and Doctoral Programs by Prof. Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D., Ak., CA., CPA (Aust.). The celebration then moved to the ceremonial cutting of the tumpeng by the program management as an expression of gratitude for the programs’ journey and development, followed by a shared lunch. The festive atmosphere continued with the Three Minutes Competition, which gave participants the opportunity to present their research in a concise, clear, and engaging manner within three minutes.
The event concluded with an Angkringan Session, held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The session featured the launch of two books: Pelaporan Perubahan Iklim by Prof. Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D., Ak., CA., CPA (Aust.), and The Research Pencil Model by Luluk Lusiantoro, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. The book launch was followed by an informal discussion accompanied by traditional angkringan refreshments. Overall, the 46th Anniversary Thanksgiving Celebration was not only a commemoration of the journey of the Master and Doctoral Programs at FEB UGM, but also a meaningful forum for knowledge sharing, appreciation of academic achievements, and strengthening interaction and collegiality among members of the academic community.
