The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM extends its appreciation for the achievement of one of its alumni from the Master of Science in Economics program, Iqbal Reza Nugraha, who has been officially appointed as the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) Jember. Iqbal completed his studies at MD FEB UGM from 2020 to 2022 under the supervision of Sekar Utami Setiastuti, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. His rolemarks a part of Bank Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its role in maintaining economic stability and fostering regional economic growth through strategic policies.
As the Head of KPw BI Jember, Iqbal Reza Nugraha plays a key role in safeguarding inflation stability, strengthening coordination with local governments, and promoting economic digitalization as a strategy to enhance regional economic performance. He has also emphasized the importance of optimizing regional potential through innovation and digital transformation, rather than relying on burdensome fiscal policies.
In addition to his professional contributions, Iqbal has also demonstrated strong academic engagement through publications in reputable international journals. One of his articles, titled “The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Regional Inflation in Indonesia,” published in Studies in Economics and Finance (Q2), examines the effects of the pandemic on regional inflation dynamics in Indonesia. The study provides important insights into how global economic shocks influence price stability across regions and their implications for economic policy.
This achievement reflects the strong synergy between academia and policy practice, where scientific research not only contributes to knowledge development but also serves as a foundation for impactful policymaking. MD FEB UGM remains committed to fostering graduates and collaborators who are capable of bridging academic research with practical needs at both national and regional levels.
