As part of the graduation ceremony (Wednesday, April 22, 2026), the Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) collaborated with Berbagi Bites Jogja, a social organization focused on distributing surplus food to those in need. This initiative is based on a commitment to food surpluses while simultaneously increasing the value of each activity. Through this collaboration, edible food is not wasted but distributed to fellow Food Heroes in need and is committed to reducing the surplus of uneaten food.
Following the graduation event, volunteers from Berbagi Bites Jogja, together with the organizing team, promptly carried out the packaging of surplus food. The process was conducted with strict attention to hygiene, safety, and quality standards to ensure the food remained suitable for consumption. The packaged meals were then placed in designated containers to maintain their condition during distribution. The entire process, from packaging to delivery, was completed within less than three hours, ensuring that the quality of the food was well preserved upon reaching the recipients.
This initiative not only reflects social responsibility but also demonstrates MD FEB UGM’s commitment to sustainability, particularly in reducing food waste. It is expected to foster greater awareness within the academic community regarding responsible resource management. Moreover, the program serves as a platform to cultivate values of empathy, solidarity, and social impact, while inspiring similar initiatives in the future.
