The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has held an open examination for the promotion of Doctor of Management Science for a Ph.D. candidate, Arif Muanas. Prof. Nurul Indarti, Sivilokonom, Cand.Merc., Ph.D., Head of the Management Doctoral Program, acted as Chair of the Session. In this Open Examination, presented B.M. Purwanto, M.B.A., Ph.D. as a promoter, and Bayu Sutikno, M.S.M., Ph.D. also Yulia Arisnani Widyaningsih, M.B.A., Ph.D. as co-promoter. In addition, the assessment team was also present, which included Dr. Sahid Susilo Nugroho, M.Sc., Dr. Sari Winahjoe Siswomihardjo, M.B.A., and Dr. Ike Janita Dewi, M.B.A. The team of examiners in this trial was Widya Paramita, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Dr. Suci Paramitasari Syahlani, M.M. Also attending were the families of the doctoral candidates, work relatives from UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, and invited guests.
The open doctoral promotion examination was opened by the chairman of the session and then given chances to the promoter, co-promoter, assessment team, and examiner team to ask questions related to the dissertation that has been done. The Ph.D. candidate was able to answer questions well and fluently and defended the argument for her dissertation entitled “The Influence of Company Response to the Crisis of Product Failure Consumer Reactions,” so that she successfully graduated with the predicate “satisfying.”
For information, Dr. Arif Muanas focuses on empirical studies related to consumer reactions. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the company’s response to the product failure crisis on consumer reactions. Thus, the main issue behind this research is an existence of a product failure crisis. This research was tested using the attribution theory framework and situational business communication theory.
The test in this study used experimental methods to determine consumer reactions to the company’s response to the crisis of product failure that occurred. Through this research, initial knowledge about consumer reactions can be obtained, which can be developed to examine consumer behavior. The product used in this experiment is white bread. The participants involved in the research were students, so the unit of analysis was the individual.
This lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, officially holds the 5537th doctoral degree who passed the exam at Universitas Gadjah Mada and the 318th who passed the exam at FEB UGM. Mr. B.M. Purwanto, M.B.A., Ph.D. as the promoter, congratulated Dr. Arif, his family, and institutions on his doctoral degree. He appreciated the struggle of Dr. Arif in completing his studies and wished him a happy return to serve. Thus, hopefully, the knowledge gained can be a provision in contributing to the institution. He ordered that Dr. Arif stay to maintain the good name of his alma mater and always maintain communication. (Y)
