Yogyakarta, December 17th, 2021

The Master of Science and Doctoral Program (MD) FEB UGM has successfully held a scientific discussion event, namely MD REFO #3 on December 17, 2021. The third MD REFO (Research Forum) presented Mr. Syaiful Ali, MIS, Ph.D., a lecturer at the Department of Accounting FEB UGM and Professional Accountant Certification Board, as speakers and Mr. Aviandi Okta Maulana, M.Acc., Ph.D., lecturer at the Department of Accounting FEB UGM, as moderators. This scientific forum attended by 87 participants consisting of various parties, including students, academics, practitioners, and the general public.

On the occasion of the scientific discussion held online yesterday, Mr. Syaiful Ali explained digital transformation, which was motivated by various things. The digital era developed before the pandemic, where many companies made investments in IT (Information and Technology). The process of accelerating digital transformation is finally getting bigger with the pandemic. This is because many changes have occurred, such as social distancing, which has resulted in everything being done digitally. This massive change came to be known as double disruption.

These changes are a challenge for the company’s resilience. Thus, companies must think about how to survive. The solution is that companies must be adaptive in responding to all changes. One of them is responding to changes in society, including consumer habits, which are starting to switch to digital transactions. Mr. Syaiful Ali also stated that based on the results of research in 2018, digital transformation has a share of 20% in all companies in Indonesia by 2021.

Of course, all of that is related to the role of accountants who participate in financial management and audit processes. Therefore, it is hoped that the ability of human resources in the digital aspect must continue to develop. All of this is done to be able to provide the best service and manage the company according to existing developments.

After the speaker’s presentation, the forum continued with a discussion session. There were many interesting questions from the participants, which enriched their knowledge and successfully discussed. At the end of the event, there was a group photo session. (Y)
